Cambridge VT
'Outdoor cat’-type people thrive in Cambridge, with its easy access to ‘the Mountain’ skiing and hiking, local bike trails, hunting, and kayaking and fishing on the Lamoille River that ripples through it. Cambridge was settled by John Safford of New Hampshire in 1783, when Vermont was still ‘only’ a Republic. He opened the first school three years later, with a class of 24. Local tall tales include the origin of Pumpkin Harbor Road, Mudgett Farm Road and the Poor House, revealing its pragmatic, generous and colorful beginnings. In its early years, it was a commerce hub, with several railroads serving the station. Today, those tracks are now Rail Trails.
Cambridge has virtually no zoning laws, which means that if you buy a property big enough, you could easily sub-divide it.
